SUMMARY:14th Annual Friends on the 4th 5K Run/Walk/Jog
DESCRIPTION:Start the 4th of July off with a bang and join the gang at the biggest race in central Maine.  Over 630 racers entered in 2015\, making the 14th annual Friends on the 4th 5K Run\, Walk\, Jog Central Maine’s most popular race.  With a start time of 8AM on Monday\, July 4th the race is open to all runners\, joggers and walkers.  After a loop through downtown Winthrop\, the course follows along the beautiful eastern shore of Maranacook Lake.  Pre-registration can be done at www.watershedfriends.com and is highly recommended.  Pre-registration at $22 guarantees a free t-shirt and stuffed gift bag\, it can be done at www.watershedfriends.com.  Race day registration ($25) starts at 7AM at the American Legion\, 117 Bowdoin Street\, Winthrop.  There is no guarantee of a t-shirt and gift bag on race day registrations.  For the safety of runners\, parking is not allowed along the race route.  Parking attendants will guide participants and spectators to designated parking areas. \nProceeds from this race support programs and projects offered by the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed\, a 7\,000-member organization whose mission is the “Protect and Improve the 28 Lakes and Streams of the Cobbossee Watershed.”

DESCRIPTION:The Class of 2016 at Erskine Academy will host the 7th Annual Fly Like an Eagle 5K Race/Walk on Saturday\, April 30th at 9:00 am. The race will feature free race t-shirts\, snacks for all race participants\, and awards for race winners. The non-refundable registration fee is $20 for adults\, $10 for Erskine students\, and $15 for all other students if registered by April 22nd. DESCRIPTION:What: Second Annual Spawning Run 5K hosted by the UMaine American Fisheries Society Student Subunit\nWhen: April 30th at 9 am\nWhere: 5755 Nutting Hall\, University of Maine\, Orono\nDescription:\nProceeds of the run will contribute to our subunit’s Outreach and Education Fund. This money will be used to develop programs with local middle and high schools to bring fisheries and aquatic science into the classroom to teach children about the vibrant aquatic community in the Penobscot River and the state of Maine. The event will begin in front of Nutting Hall on the University of Maine\, Orono campus. Registration opens at 8 am on race day in the Nutting Hall lobby. The course will take participants through the University of Maine campus and bike trails\, and will finish back in front of Nutting Hall. Both runners and walkers are welcome!
