The Campobello Coastal Challenge offers participants the opportunity to experience the rugged beauty and scenic coastal trails of Campobello Island. Runners will encounter a variety of terrain including forested trails\, rocky beaches\, coastal cliffs\, and bog boardwalks – all while soaking in stunning views of the Passamaquoddy Bay. \nAs runners make their way through some of the very same trails that President Franklin Roosevelt established during his summers on the island\, they are sure to gain his same sense of appreciation for the breathtaking natural landscape that Campobello Island has to offer. \nThe 25 km and 50 km races begin at the historic core of Roosevelt Campobello International Park and wind their way across the rocky coastal outcrops and tidal bogs of the Roosevelt Campobello International Park. Runners will then cross over into Herring Cove Provincial Park where they will continue across a 1mile (1.6 km) stretch of beach before returning to the trails and enjoying a final leg through pristine old growth Acadian Forest and finishing back at the start line. \nThe 10 km race begins at the same start line and follows the 25 km loop route for several kilometers before spurring off inland and into Herring Cove Provincial Park where runners will then continue on the same final leg as the 25 km loop. \nRunners will face a variety of challenging terrain but will be equally rewarded with pleasant coastal temperatures and spectacular coastal views; bald eagles\, seals\, porpoises\, and whales are possible to see from the route. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEric Mauricette\nemauricette90@gmail.com\nCell – 207 992 8285

DESCRIPTION:Link to online registration… \n\n\nPlace\nBib pick-up and race-day registration ($25) will take place at the Penobscot Theatre at 131 Main Street\, Bangor starting at 7:30 AM Dec. 29. Registration closes at 8:25. \nThe race will begin at 9:00 AM near Merchants Plaza\, behind Paddy Murphy’s. This is the same race course as previous years. \n\n\n\n\nDescription\n\n\nThe Finale 5K will take place Sunday\, December 29\, 2024 at 9 AM in Bangor.  \nThe course is the same as the previously held Epic Finale\, starting near West Market Square\, behind Paddy Murphy’s. \nOnline registration ($20) will close December 26 at 11:59PM. \nThe first 50 registrants receive a free Finale 5K blue neon knit hat. Only the first 50 registrants will receive a hat. \nNEW-Race-day registration ($25) and bib pick-up will take place at the Penobscot Theatre. Registration will open at 7:30 and close at 8:25 AM. For race-day registration we are cash and check only. \nRace will be officially timed by Brewer Timing Services. \nWe have every intention of hosting this race as scheduled. However\, please be aware that weather and road safety could impact the event and refunds will not be available. The race course is not closed and participants should be cautious of traffic.

Proceeds and fundraising will benefit three incredible organizations: Achilles Freedom Team\, supporting disabled veterans in achieving their athletic goals\,  House in the Woods of Lee\, Maine\, a retreat dedicated to honoring and helping veterans and their families and The Travis Mills Foundation  – supporting post-9/11 recalibrated veterans and their families through various programs that help these heroic men and women overcome physical and emotional obstacles\, strengthen their families\, and provide well-deserved rest and relaxation. Don’t miss this opportunity to challenge yourself while making a difference for those who have served. \nThe Boyden Lake Half-Marathon in Perry\, Maine\, is a scenic and serene route that encircles Boyden Lake\, a beautiful freshwater body in the Downeast region. This loop is a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts\, especially runners\, walkers\, and cyclists\, for its combination of quiet roads\, natural beauty\, and tranquil surroundings. Along the route\, you’ll enjoy picturesque views of Boyden Lake\, peaceful forests\, and the occasional glimpse of local wildlife\, such as eagles\, herons\, and loons. Starting and Finishing at the Pottle Tree Farm surrounded by rolling hills\, forested areas\, and open fields\, the farm offers stunning views that capture the essence of Maine’s natural beauty. \nEach year the race committee will select a local veteran to honor.  2025 race dedication goes to: Brian Manza – a Vietnam veteran who passed away in 2008 from complications of Agent Orange. Brian was also a valued member of the Washington County running community and his accomplishments are many. He was the 1967 Maine state high school cross country champion from Woodland High School (Baileyville)\, ran both the Boston and Pikes Peak Marathons\, and was a founding member and president of the Sunrise County Roadrunners. Other than his decorated US Army service\, while stationed at Fort Carson he was a member of both the boxing and running teams. There are 4 aid stations on the course.
