DESCRIPTION:The women of the Delta Nu chapter of Alpha Phi International Women’s Fraternity will be hosting their 14th annual Move Your Phi’t 5k run/walk in support of women’s cardiac care and research on Sunday\, May 1st. \nThe race will begin and end at the Buchanan Alumni House on the University of Maine campus. Registration will begin at 10 AM and the race starts at 11 AM. Alpha Phi invites all community members to participate and show their support. There is an $8 fee to participate when paid in advance and a $10 fee to participate if paid on the day of. Prizes for the first-place male and female runners will be awarded. \nProceeds from the event will go to the Alpha Phi Foundation to benefit women’s cardiac care and research. The Alpha Phi Foundation empowers and encourages women to be generous givers. It raises and awards funds for programs that advance leadership development\, encourage academic excellence\, improve women’s heart health\, support sisters in need and educate about the value of philanthropy.

DESCRIPTION:Start the 4th of July off with a bang and join the gang at the biggest race in central Maine.  Over 630 racers entered in 2015\, making the 14th annual Friends on the 4th 5K Run\, Walk\, Jog Central Maine’s most popular race.  With a start time of 8AM on Monday\, July 4th the race is open to all runners\, joggers and walkers.  After a loop through downtown Winthrop\, the course follows along the beautiful eastern shore of Maranacook Lake.  Pre-registration can be done at www.watershedfriends.com and is highly recommended.  Pre-registration at $22 guarantees a free t-shirt and stuffed gift bag\, it can be done at www.watershedfriends.com.  Race day registration ($25) starts at 7AM at the American Legion\, 117 Bowdoin Street\, Winthrop.  There is no guarantee of a t-shirt and gift bag on race day registrations.  For the safety of runners\, parking is not allowed along the race route.  Parking attendants will guide participants and spectators to designated parking areas. \nProceeds from this race support programs and projects offered by the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed\, a 7\,000-member organization whose mission is the “Protect and Improve the 28 Lakes and Streams of the Cobbossee Watershed.”
